Joann Jenkins

Joann Jenkins of Athens, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 17, 2018.

Predeceased by her loving husband of 53 years, James Alfred Jenkins in 2015, she is survived by daughters, Jamie Ann and husband Paul Murphy of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Joanna Arlyn and husband Kelly Truax of Hong Kong and Julie Alana and husband Brian Walker of Madison, Alabama; grandchildren Danielle Smith, James Jenkins III, Lauren Walker, Kelly Truax and Miles Truax; great-grandchildren Evie Jenkins, Jaxen Smith, Jeremy Jenkins and Penelope Smith.

Joann, born November 21, 1938 in Sturgis, Kentucky and was the daughter of Alice Marie and William R. Hickerson.  After marrying James, she threw her energies into raising her children as she moved around the country with her military husband, finally settling in Athens, Alabama and later Madison, Alabama.  She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother.

Her children will celebrate her life in a private family gathering.  She leaves us rich in memories.
