Shirley Ann Williams

November 12, 1935 — January 24, 2018

Shirley Ann Jenks Williams, 82, of Harvest, Alabama, passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at home in her sleep.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 27 at Legacy Chapel Funeral Home in Madison. Reverend Ron Domina will be officiating. Visitation will be held at 10:00 am, the hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the funeral service at Huntsville Memory Gardens.

Shirley was born in Chillicothe, Missouri on November 12, 1935 and grew up in northern West Virginia. She graduated from Zion Bible Institute in Providence, Rhode Island in 1955. She married Ken Williams on September 21, 1957; they were married for 60 years, raising their family in Connecticut and also living in Alabama and Florida.

Shirley was a loving wife and mother. From a young age, she was the church organist and pianist. She worked as a nurse's aide, secretary, store clerk and substitute teacher, always sharing her warm and cheerful heart with others. She enjoyed gardening – reaching the level of Master Gardener during her retirement years in Florida. She enjoyed playing the piano, playing for church services, many weddings and especially enjoyed sharing her talent with childrens' choirs and at nursing homes. She was an avid reader and loved to learn new things. She learned to play the hand bells, dulcimer and violin late in life. She loved to travel.  She especially enjoyed time with family and was a warm and loving grandmother to her 6 grandchildren. Her first great grandchild was born this week and she would have been the first on the plane to go see if her if she had been able.

Shirley is survived by her husband Ken, her two sisters Karen and Beckie, her three children, Anita and Brian Blondin, Rob and Jordanna Williams, Shari Crowe and Shawn Askins, six grandchildren (Corey and Monica, Zachary and Jen, Hannah, Jack, Aidan and Liam) and one great grandchild (Ayla).

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents David and Maxine Jenks and her sister, Pat.
