Liga Aumalis

Liga Aumalis of Madison, AL passed away peacefully on Friday January 5th, 2018 at the age of 83. Born in Latvia, as a young girl she fled during the Russian invasion with her family to Germany and then legally immigrated to the United States and was naturalized as a US Citizen. She has resided in Maryland, New York, North Carolina, and Madison, Alabama. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, crocheting, tatting, taking care of her many plants including several types of rose bushes and her dog, Polly. She is survived by her son Ansis (Ed), his wife Deana, two grandchildren Arnie and Silvie, and her sister Mara. She is a member of the Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church of New York. A Celebration of Life is planned for July, when she will be laid to rest with her husband, Arnis in Brooklyn, New York. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made in her honor to Hospice of North Alabama.
