Charles Spencer, formerly of Dayton and Wilberforce, OH, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2017 in Madison, AL at the age of 90. Mr. Spencer met and married his college sweetheart at Bluffton College (University) where he excelled at music performance, track, and football (Athletic Hall of Fame Inductee 1976). He held a Master’s Degree in Music and Educational Administration from the University of Cincinnati. Mr. Spencer was a music teacher, choir director, and educator in the Dayton Public Schools and Wilberforce University. He also served honorably in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army. Mr. Spencer is survived by his loving wife of almost 63 years, Dorothy; his children Denise (Lloyd) Spencer-Watkins (Harbor City, CA), Debra (Ronald) Spencer-Grant (Tacoma, WA), Diana Spencer (Huntsville, AL), Charles B. (Janice) Spencer (Louisville, KY), John D. (Anjanette) Spencer (Madison, AL), Matthew T. (Brigitte) Spencer (Cumming, GA); beloved grandchildren; extended family and friends.
