John Serrano

John Serrano Jr. died peacefully at home on October 10, 2017. He was born on May 11, 1934 in New York, NY. John served in the United States Air Force and demonstrated a strong work ethic with a long career at both General Motors and the University of Alabama in Huntsville. He was well-known in the community for his youth coaching and volunteerism. John was an active member of Asbury United Methodist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, Josephine Nunez Serrano and John Serrano Sr. John is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joan Serrano; son Robert Serrano; daughter Barbara Longo and son-in-law Matt Longo, granddaughter Shavona Chamberlin, great grandchildren M’Haile, Mwindou, Micael, Djoy, Felixity, Maisha; grandson Brandon Longo, grandson David Longo; son John C. Serrano and daughter-in-law Christie Serrano, granddaughter Megan Serrano, great-niece Amber Bowab; daughter Andrea Serrano and son-in-law Dr. David Dixon; sisters Margie Wood and Anne Marie Serrano; brothers Robert (Cynthia) Serrano and Daniel (Chris) Serrano.
