Meghan Slater Madeiros, 36, passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2017. She is survived by her mother, Nancy Mullin (Slater), her loving husband, Jonathan, and her three children, Jesse, Angelina, and JJ; her brother, Paul, and nephews, Michael and Thomas; her special Aunt Marilyn; many cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Dr. Peter J. Slater. Meghan was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico and travelled to Singapore, Bali, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, and Hong Kong all before the age of three. She was involved in sports in school as a runner and played soft ball, but her heart was in soccer and cheer. She loved to dance and loved many types of music. Meghan was an avid reader and oftentimes found it hard to put down a book before completing it and never forgot a plot or a character in a story. She attended The Academy for Science and Foreign Language in Huntsville where she enjoyed being a part of Academy Kids and participated in French Club. She graduated from Bob Jones High School in Madison where she played Junior Varsity and Varsity soccer and was on the cheer squad during her freshman and sophomore years. She attended the University of Alabama in Huntsville and especially enjoyed her philosophy and psychology classes. She loved being a mom, and loved being on the sidelines of her children’s soccer games, though she found it very difficult to sit, and was often seen running up and down those sidelines. Meghan had a smile that could light up any room she entered. She was a loving mother, wife, sister, daughter, and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or the charity of your choice in Meghan’s name.
