Dr. Clyde H.H. Chong, age 84 of Madison, Alabama passed away at home on June 22. Clyde was born on March 6, 1933 in Honolulu Hawaii to PY Chong and Helen Say Chong. Clyde is preceded in death by his brothers (Harrison, Robert, Jackie and George Chong), sister (Bette Naumu-Rosenberg), son Richard Puckett, and grandson Matthew Puckett. He is survived by his wife Joy Durham Puckett Chong, the love of his life for 53 years. Also survived by son Jack Chong (Dyan), daughter Missy Swager (David), daughter in-law Patricia Puckett and grandchildren (Kyle Puckett, Christopher Puckett, Sarah Swager, Lauren Chong, Hannah Swager and Jonathon Chong) and many nieces and nephews. Clyde graduated from The Western Military Academy in Alton Illinois in 1950. He graduated from Wabash College with a B.S. in Chemistry in 1954. He received his PhD. in Chemistry from Michigan State University in 1958. He retired from Mound Laboratories in Miamisburg Ohio an Atomic Energy Commission facility for nuclear weapon research, in 1988 after 30 years of service. He was an avid gardener, Boy Scout Committee leader, and active in many areas of Parkview United Methodist Church. In his retirement Clyde enjoyed watching his grandchildren's numerous sports activities and performances. A Celebration of his life will be held on Saturday July 1, 2017 from 1-3pm at the Villas At Madison's Community Center 1310 Cathedral Circle, Madison Alabama 35758.
