William Edward Sartor, 89, passed away peacefully in his Madison, Alabama home on May 1. He is survived by his wife Esther, brothers Frank and Chuck, sister Juliana, his seven children and their spouses, sixteen grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother Juliana, father Eugene, and brothers Joe and Eugene. Born April 17, 1928 in Toledo, Ohio, Bill joined the US Marine Corps after graduating high school in 1946. He married his loving wife Esther in 1950 and went on to earn a degree in chemical engineering from the University of Detroit. He was employed by Wolverine Tube and worked as a chemical engineer until 1994. After retirement, Bill enjoyed traveling, visiting historical and religious monuments, and spending time with his ever-growing family. He was steadfast in his Catholic faith, played an active role in every parish he belonged to, and did his best to instill his faith in his family. Bill will be greatly missed, though his legacy of love, service, and spirituality will live on through his many descendants. Services will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 1055 Hughes Rd, Madison, Al. on Thursday May 4th with a Rosary starting at 9:45, visitation at 10:00 and the Funeral mass at 11:00. Interment will follow at Burningtree Memorial Gardens, Decatur, Al. Flowers may be sent to Legacy Chapel, 16 Hughes Road, Madison, Al. 35758. In lieu of flowers, donations made out to St. Vincent De Paul and sent to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 1055 Hughes Rd, Madison, Al. 35758 would be appreciated and preferred.
