Eva Schriever, passed away on March 21, 2017 Admired for her tremendous appreciation for and ability to create beauty, independent spirit, green thumb, and love of family, friends, and dogs (particularly golden retrievers), Eva Schriever lived a rich and interesting life. Born on the Baltic Sea and raised in Berlin during and after World War II, Eva moved to the United States after she fell in love and married Alexander Copetas, a US army doctor stationed in post-war Berlin. During European unrest in 1956, she and Al invited her brother, Volker Breitfeld, to finish high school in the US and assisted him in his journey thru medical school and beyond. After Al's death when Eva was only 39, Eva found love again and married Jay Schriever, a Naval Academy graduate and Gulf/Chevron Oil executive, who also predeceased her. She is survived by her adoring rescue-dog golden retriever, Charlie, two loving daughters --Chris Copetas (Rick Corn) and granddaughter Alexandra Corn of Madison, AL and Karen Copetas (Joe Garcia) of Bellingham, WA, and Jay's children -- Ann Schriever, Sandy Schriever, John (Dana) Schriever and Laura (Billy) Stewart, grandchildren Sarah and Nicholas Schriever, Max Stewart, and Hayley (Sam) Unruh and their 4 children. She also is survived by Volker's widow, MaryAnn Breitfeld, and their daughters Ann Louise (Vittorio) Scalfi and Julie Breitfeld (Robert Dwyer) as well as brothers in Germany -- Hartmud, Bernhard, and Dietrich Breitfeld. Eva was captivated by natural beauty of all kinds, and especially loved gardening, which enabled her to bring beauty to her neighbors as well. Strong, proud, humble, and incredibly caring, Eva was an inspiration to all who knew her. She is dearly missed.
