Elise Christine Denton, 29, of Madison, AL, passed away July 11, 2016. She was born March 11, 1987, in Houston, TX. She is survived by her parents Ken and Margaret Denton, sister Paige Michelle Denton, grandmothers Yvonne Michaels and Billie Denton, and multiple aunts, uncles, and cousins. Elise graduated from Bob Jones High School in 2005. While there she made lifelong friends and lasting relationships with her teachers and coaches. She continued her education at the University of North Alabama where she graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing. Elise spent her youth playing recreational and club soccer, as well as for all of her school’s teams. She was a member of Bob Jones High School’s very first team to win a 6A State Championship. Immediately following college, she accepted a position with St. Thomas Hospital East in Nashville, TN, as an orthopedic nurse. Within a year she began her career as a Labor and Delivery Nurse at Baptist Hospital, currently known as St. Thomas Midtown Hospital. She was married to Dillon Hodges from October 2012 through March 2016. Both athletically and artistically gifted, Elise loved playing the guitar and taught herself how to play the keyboard. She was a talented photographer and artist. She loved to travel and create her own adventures. Recently, she accepted a position as a travel nurse and was about to embark on her first assignment in Seattle, WA, this August. She loved spending time with her family, friends, her loving boyfriend Mike McDonald, and her dog Penny Pecan. We will miss her laughter, her spirit, and hope her life is an inspiration to others to pursue what makes them happy. To honor Elise’s love for Christmas, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Huntsville Botanical Gardens or the Cheekwood Botanical Gardens and Museum of Art in Nashville, TN.
