Noreen Galgay, 74, took the hand of Jesus and stepped into her eternal life on Sunday, July 17th, 2016. Her final days were spent in her home in Madison, Alabama surrounded by family and friends. She gave us such courage and hope throughout her illness. A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, July 20th at Asbury United Methodist Church in Madison. Services will be held in the Grace building with visitation at 11:00am and the funeral to follow at 12:00pm. Noreen was born January 30, 1942 in Miami, Florida to Hugh and Pauline (Rowan) Kavney. She graduated Cum Laude from the University of South Florida and taught in Ocala for three years before moving to Madison in 1996. She continued her education at the University of North Alabama from which she received her Masters of Education. She taught in Madison County and Madison City schools, retiring in 2010. Noreen was quite accomplished, obtaining her private pilot license, real estate license and most recently completing the Master Gardener class with the Huntsville Botanical Gardens. In addition to gardening she enjoyed reading, traveling, and participating in activities at her church and with Alabama Emmaus. She is preceded in death by two twin brothers, Tim Kavney of Millwood, Ga. and Jeff Kavney of West Palm Beach, Fl. She is survived by her husband, John Jerome Galgay, two sons and their spouses, Mike and Linda Wickersham, Jeff and Stacey Wickersham; Her twin brothers, Tim Kavney of Millwood, GA. And Jeff Kavney of West Palm Beach, FL. and 5 Grandchildren, Jay, Brant, Shelby, Kyle, and Lindsey. In Lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society.
