Richard (Duffy) Michael Bunis, Jr.

Richard (Duffy) Michael Bunis, Jr. of Huntsville, Alabama passed away unexpectedly on August 28th, 2016 at the age of 41. Duffy is survived by his wife, Heather, and children, Brooke (10) and Greyson (8); his mother, Jeanne Abt Mackey; his sister, Jamie Bunis; and his step-mother, Linda Bunis. Duffy is preceded in death by his father, Richard M. Bunis; his grandparents, Fred and Irene Abt, Alphonse and Mathilda Bunis; and his step-father, Tommy Mackey. Duffy was born in Virginia Beach, VA, and raised in Cullman, AL and has spent the majority of the past 19 years with his wife and children in Huntsville, AL. He graduated from Athens State University in 2002 with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration. He also attended VCU and UAB as a graduate student. Duffy was employed by Huntsville Hospital for approximately 10 years and has spent the past 3 ½ years as COO with Genopath, LLC. As his family, friends and co-workers know, Duffy loved to cook and watch his family and friends enjoy his creations. He spent a good portion of his life playing tennis and he also enjoyed scuba diving and spending his vacations at the beach. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 9th, at 5 pm at Legacy Chapel in Madison, AL with the Memorial Service following at 6 pm.
