Maurice Blaine Osburn, 85, passed away Nov. 2, 2016. He is preceded in death by his parents John Blaine and Opal Osburn. Blaine is survived by his wife Nancy Power Osburn of 40 years. His children, Kurtis, Kevin, and Karla Osburn and Anne Bright, two grandchildren Sam and Juliana Osburn. James, Gloria and Gayle Power, Robert Boyett and other family members. Blaine was born and grew up in Jackson, Michigan. He served four years in the U.S. Navy. Graduating from Michigan State University, Blaine left Michigan to live and work in Southern California. In the early 1970’s he was transferred by Computer Science of California in Huntsville, Alabama. Later employed by Madison County as Director of Human Resources, where he designed and implemented the “Merit System” for Madison County employees. Once again Blaine returned to Southern California with his family. Blaine received numerous awards and merit certificates for his work and leadership during his career. Blaine spent most of his career in California in Aero Space Management and Consulting before returning Huntsville, Alabama for retirement. Blaine was a Master Mason, belonging to Lodge 666 located in Reseda, California. He excelled in his many interests and talents as an adult such as: Scuba Diving, Sailing, and playing the bass in a Jewish Band. Blaine loved motor cycling, boating, hunting, chess, and later in life antiquing. Blaine also loved cooking, reading, and collecting rare books. He was a knife maker and collector of knives throughout his life. Blaine was a member of First Baptist Church of Huntsville and believed that the foundation of achieving happiness rests on believing in and living a life of faith, gratitude and peace. Blaine enjoyed life to its fullest and leaves great memories to all he touched. Arrangements have been entrusted to Legacy Chapel, 16 Hughes Road Madison, Alabama, where the family will receive Family and Friends on Saturday Nov. 5, from 12:00pm-2:00pm. Funeral Services will follow at 2:00pm, with Mark Seanor and Travis Collins of First Baptist Church of Huntsville officiating. Interment will follow for family members at Athens City Cemetery.
